The company

Vermilion is the French subsidiary of a Canadian oil and gas producer: it explores, produces and sells oil from 26 concessions and close to 370 producing wells in France. It has its french headquarters in Parentis near Bordeaux with 3 additional offices in South-East of Paris and two in the south west of France . It is the largest oil producer in France. Vermilion has been a very active operator in France with more than 1 billion in investment since 1997 and 400 million in the last 4 years, 78 wells drilled and 1500 well interventions.

Besides France, Vermilion has operating units in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and Croatia for Europe. The other international business units are in Canada, USA and Australia.

Role in the Project

In MEET, VERMILION will give access to their own oil well site, will perform technical task for co-production and will study end-of-life oil well conversion.

Eric Léoutre (Production engineer at Vermilion) is a Petroleum Engineer with more than 15 years experience in the oil and gas business. He spent 9 years with Shell in reservoir engineering positions abroad ( UK, Malaysia) . He joined Vermilion in 2011 and had diverse project and team responsibilities in France, he has now moved to production engineering.
Eric is a firm believer in cross-fertilization between the oil and geothermal industry.
He graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Geology of Nancy and holds a MEng degree from IFP and Texas A&M University.
